The Reason I (She) Became A Witch

I'm still working on the format so keep with me…

Next song up, NS Yoonji's (also known as NS Yoon-G. She changes her name a lot, I don't really get it…) The Reason I Became a Witch!

Alright, so other than this being one of my favorite songs to sing at noraebang, it's a really great song. First, the sound.

There's a good mix of English, rap, and really strong vocals that make it an upbeat, fun song. The emotion of a powerful strong woman is in there, and threes aspects make it really easy for me (as an international fan) to get what's going on. Part of the main refrain in the song "I hate you, forget you" makes it clear - this woman is on a warpath.

The music video is also, well, awesome. I'm so sorry that it never got very popular. First, there's the ridiculously hot NS Yoonji. Then she has her blond hair, leather, chains, and riding crops. I mean, seriously. I can't understand why she's not considered a sex symbol on the level of Lee Hyori and Hyunah - this MV is made for people with fetishes…

Okay, anyway, fetishes aside, this mv has a lot of really interesting bright visuals that totally go against what the song should feel like, at least in my opinion. A lot of Kpop mvs are about being heartbroken, (and The Reason I Became a Witch is about that too - she's had her heart stomped on by this guy so much so that she hates him and has to become this dominatrix type of girl,) but usually the MVs are sad, with gray color schemes. NS Yoonji's song is more about girl power than anything, let's be honest here. It could be considered the forerunner to Ailee's "I Will Show You," where both women have strong songs with brightly colored MVs to show that they can get over the idiot jerk who broke their heart in the first place.

Summary: Hot mv, really powerful and fun to sing-along-with song, and the ending message of "just because I've had my heart broken doesn't mean I'm going to let him get the better of me." Pretty much? Being a bitch is okay.
